Pre-registration
I’d want to apply, but I didn’t do so within the application time. So, what should I do now? You’ll have to apply for admission during the next round of applications. For further information, go to www.unisa.ac.za/apply.

Who must apply or register Unisa Online Application 2023-2024

Anyone interested in beginning a new qualification must apply for admission. This includes first-time Unisa applicants as well as current Unisa students who are switching to a new certification. Anyone who has completed a Higher Certificate or an Alternative Pathway / Extended Program must apply for admission to the next level of education. If you previously applied for admission and received feedback but did not register for whatever reason, you must reapply. Under the Unisa-TVET agreement, anybody who wishes to enrol in classes at a Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college must apply for admission.
Please note: If you previously applied for admission and were offered a spot, but did not accept the offer and/or did not register for whatever reason, you must reapply.

Is it possible for me to transfer from another university to Unisa?
Yes, unless you were previously expelled or suspended from a higher education school due to misbehaviour. You must, however, first apply to Unisa. The dates for the next application season may be found at www.unisa.ac.za/apply.

Can I register with Unisa and another university simultaneously?
Only if your enrollment at Unisa is for a non-degree qualification and you have formal authorization from the other university to register concurrently. This formal authorization must be submitted at the time of application and registration. Remember that you must first apply for a Unisa student number if you do not already have one. The dates for the next application season may be found at www.unisa.ac.za/apply.

Is it possible to register for two or more official programs at Unisa at the same time?
Unfortunately not.

During registration
What are the registration dates and times for formal qualifications?

Visit www.unisa.ac.za/register for all registration dates and times.
My admissions application was accepted, and I enrolled online. What am I supposed to do now?

Please be patient while your registration is being processed. Please visit your local Unisa Regional Office if you believe your registration will not be processed by the registration deadline.

Unisa’s online registration process is quick, simple and accurate. This is why we advise you to go with this choice. When enrolling online, you’ll be alerted if any information is missing or inaccurate, which will help you make sure you’ve filled out all of the required fields before completing your registration form.

The steps are as follows

  • Go to the Unisa registration website: http://registration.unisa.ac.za
  • Then click “Go” after selecting your qualifying level.
  • Enter your student number in the given block, as well as any additional data that are necessary. (If you do not have a student number, you will not be allowed to continue; you must apply for one during the next application period.)
  • Check your personal details on screen. Replace any missing or inaccurate contact information.
  • Enter the modules for which you want to register. You must
    • meet all the pre-requisites and co-requisites for the selected module
    • enter the correct module code
    • select the correct semester (1 = first semester; 2 = second semester)
    • Indicate whether you want your study materials sent in English or Afrikaans.

* Please keep in mind that not all of the modules are available in Afrikaans. The tuition language for each program is specified in the module details.

  • If you register for more than the allowed number of modules each semester or year, your registration will be rejected. When choosing your number of modules for the semester or year, please keep in mind Unisa’s re-admission rules.
  • Calculate your fees
    • To get a price for the cost of your modules, go to the Unisa website and click on the fee quotation link (hhttp://www.unisa.ac.za/feequote).
    • Please take note of the minimum amount that must be paid before Unisa may complete your application. If these fees are too high for you, remove modules until you can pay them.
    • You can pay with a credit card online at http://www.unisa.ac.za/feepayment.
    • You can pay at a Standard Bank if you don’t have a credit card. Keep a copy of your payment receipt in case there are any questions.
  • Fill out the registration form.

Study pack delivery options

You will have three delivery choices for your first study pack for the semester at the time of registration:

  1. Courier: Your study materials will not be couriered for an extra charge. Please supply Unisa with your cellphone number, a backup contact number (in case we can’t reach you on your mobile), and a genuine physical delivery address. Please make sure someone is accessible to accept your study materials package.
  2. Post: Provide Unisa with a genuine telephone number as well as an accurate location, suburb, and postal code.
  3. Counter collection: This option is open to all Unisa students, however, counter collecting sites are only accessible at the Sunnyside Campus in Pretoria and the Science Campus in Johannesburg (Florida).  If you choose this option, your parcel will be wrapped and collected as soon as your registration is complete, but it will not be ready for pickup for another two working days. Once your shipment is ready for pickup at your selected collection place, Unisa will send you an SMS. If you do not collect your study material pack within two working days (48 hours) of getting the SMS, the South African Post Office will send it to you by ordinary mail.

This option is only available for your first study pack. The South African Post Office will send subsequent items by standard mail delivery. After you’ve completed your registration, go to myUnisa to access and download your study materials for your modules.

Only at the beginning of the second semester will you receive study materials for second-semester modules. Second-semester study materials will only be available on myUnisa when the semester begins.
