Refunds
- All NSFAS-funded students who pay the minimum registration amount to activate their registration will be repaid once NSFAS has confirmed successful processing of registration data to Unisa.
- An application for repayment is not necessary. Repayments will be paid to the student’s bank account.
- Learning Material Allowance and Living Allowance
- Unisa NSFAS-funded students are only eligible to a Learning Material Allowance (LMA) and Living Allowance (LA) only.
- Based on the 2023 DHET Grant Funding Guidelines, LMA is worked based on the number of modules registered: R600 per module for the first four modules and R5200 once-off amount for five modules to ten modules. If the amount of R5200 LMA is paid for the first five modules, no extra LMA will be paid for extra modules.
- Based on the 2023 DHET Grant Funding Guidelines, LA is paid to students registered for ten modules. A student who registers for ten modules and later cuts the number of modules registered will, unfortunately, loss this allowance.
- Returning NSFAS students who received funding in 2021, have been declined for funding in 2022 and have petitioned the decision: Kindly pay the minimum registration fee while you wait for the NSFAS petition decision if you decide to do so.
