Unisa application opening date
The University of South Africa (Unisa) will take in applications for admission to the 2023-2024 academic year from 1 September to 15 December 2023-2024 (CTA programmes have an earlier closing date). Additional application dates may be announced if there are still spaces available for the 2022 academic year.
NOTE
Unisa have changed their application model to be open and continuous. This means that applications will remain open throughout the year.

- Applicants can apply online (currently closed).
- Applying students who plan to enroll for classes at a Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college under the Unisa-TVET agreement can apply via the relevant TVET college or at Unisa via the online or self-help options.

Uploading supporting documents
Everyone applying for a new qualification must submit the needed documents (all first-time applicants and Unisia students starting a new qualification).
Unisia does not provide scanners or electronic devices. Please ensure that your documents are scanned and uploaded to an electronic device before starting the application process.
Fees for online and hard copy applications
- Applicants will pay R105 for online applications
- Applicants will pay R160 for hard copy applications (non-degree purposes only)
- Use the student number you receive from Unisa AND the application fee reference number (ie STUDENT NUMBER 5370810030)
- Visit www.unisa.ac.za/payment info for banking details and payment information.
Note
The application fee is non-refundable even if you made up your mind not to study through Unisa or do not qualify for admission to Unisa and also the University of South Africa does not accept cash at any of its offices.
