Apply for admission

Who must apply?

  • Anyone interested in beginning a new qualification must apply for admission. This includes first-time Unisa applicants as well as current Unisa students who are switching to a new certification.
  • Anyone who has completed a Higher Certificate or an Alternative Pathway / Extended Program must apply for admission to the next level of education.
  • If you previously applied for admission and received feedback but did not register for any reason, you must reapply.
  • Under the Unisa-TVET agreement, anyone who wishes to enroll in classes at a Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college must apply for admission.

What’s new for 2018?

  • A maximum of two qualifications, listed in order of preference, may be applied for (although you may only register for one should both of your applications be successful).
  • The conclusion of your application will be communicated to you by Unisa. If you are accepted, Unisa will tell you the qualification you have been accepted for and will offer you a spot for the term you applied for (ie either semester 1 or semester 2).
  • You have a certain amount of time to accept or reject Unisa’s offer.
  • What happens if I refuse Unisa’s offer?
    • Your offer will be withdrawn, and your spot will be given to another applicant.
    • You will not be able to enrol for the academic year 2023-2024.
  • You must register for the term for which you have been granted admission if you accept Unisa’s offer (ie semester 1 or semester 2).  You will need to reapply for admission during the following application season if you do not register for the relevant semester of study.
