Unisa rules for students
Unisa rules for students
Introduction
The legislation and regulations outlined in the Higher Education Act of 1997 define the content of this section (as amended). Unisa rules, except as clearly stated to the contrary, are subject to approval by Council and/or Senate (where appropriate) where provision for institutional discretion is made. These rules are the university’s general norms, and they apply to all Unisa students. These rules must be read in conjunction with any Unisa policies that apply and have the same force and effect as these rules. The policies in question can be seen on the Unisa website.
The regulations and policies specified above may change prior to the start of the following.
In addition to these general guidelines, each college and/or qualification may have its own set of guidelines.
They will be indicated explicitly in the college and/or qualification information, as well as in the applicable tutorial letters, all of which are available to registered students online. Unless clearly specified to the contrary, if a college’s rules provide for particular registration requirements for a module taught in the college, the requirements will apply equally if the module is taken in another college or for non-degree purposes. Unisa rules for students
When a student registers with Unisa, the student
(i) acknowledges an awareness of the prevalent rules of the university; and
(ii) undertakes to be bound and abide by the rules of the institution.
It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that he or she is aware of the rules that apply to his or her enrollment with Unisa. Any infringement shall not be excused on the basis of ignorance of these rules and related institutional norms.
Official university communication is sent to a student’s myLife e-mail account through e-mail.
The following are the rules for using the myLife e-mail account:
- All registered students receive a free myLife e-mail account from the institution. As soon as their registration is complete, the student is responsible for activating their myLife e-mail account.
- The myLife e-mail account will be the only e-mail account recognised by Unisa for official correspondence to and from the university, and will remain the official primary e-mail address on record at Unisa.
- The university’s official notification will be delivered to the myLife account. Other additional communication channels may be used from time-to-time, but the university will communicate with student primarily via their myLife e-mail addresses.
- The student is responsible for the management of this e-mail account.
